WHAT’S INCLUDED
Your own private group. A biking experience isn’t Beyond if you cannot share it with your best friends. We only offer private group holidays, small in size, so that each group is made up of like-minded travellers.
Seven nights in traditional Berber kasbahs plus one night in a luxury spa riad in Marrakesh. A shared twin or double room in hand-picked locations with five-star views.
Daily sports massage given by a certified sports soigneur, experienced working with cyclists.
High-quality, home cooking – Moroccan-style. A Berber cooking crew will accompany the group, purchasing fresh ingredients every day at the local market before cooking up a storm. Prepare for mouth-watering selection of tagines, couscouses, pastillas, soups, salads and of course, mint tea. Three-course dining is provided each evening until the drop-off in Marrakesh.
Breakfast and lunch. We provide a Moroccan-style breakfast: bread with olive oil or marmalade and tea, as well as special Moroccan pancakes. At lunch, you will enjoy a buffet-style picnic of salads and pasta, followed by a fruit plate and mint tea.
Mineral water. Drinking tap water in Morocco, even in hotels, is ill-advised. We’ll provide plenty of bottled water, carried by the support carriers, so that you can refill your drinking bottle at any time during your ride – a must-have option in hot, dry Morocco.
Full support. Fully qualified and experienced mountain bike guides will be at your service. You’ll be in the safest of hands while developing your skills along the way. Each group will also be joined by an assistant guide/support driver throughout the trip, and all group safety and bike maintenance equipment will be provided.
Transport. All transport is provided throughout the trip, starting and finishing at our meeting point in Marrakesh, as is a 4×4 support vehicle (which stays with the riders all day). Your luggage will be carried by the 4×4.
WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED?
Flights. Travel or flight costs and charges for travelling with your bike (if applicable) are additional. Please check with your airline carrier for bike carriage charges on your flight(s). Flights should not be booked until you have received your Beyond Biking booking confirmation. You will need to make your own way to our meeting point, Marrakesh Menara Airport. The standard schedule for this Beyond Biking trip includes Saturday as the arrival day, and Sunday as the departure day. We suggest arriving on Saturday by noon, before your transfer to the Atlas Mountains (4 to 5 hours). Airlines which fly directly to Marrakesh are Ryanair, Thomas Cook Airlines, JetairFly, Brussels Airlines, Royal Air Maroc, Iberia, British Airways, Vueling, Lufthansa, KLM,TAP Portugal, Swiss and Alitalia. In addition, there are good connecting flights to Marrakesh with one stopover in Casablanca, Madrid, London or Frankfurt.
Airport transfers. We will meet at Marrakesh Menara Airport for our bike journey. For your departure from Marrakesh, we don’t typically include airport transfers, as there are too many variables (including the number of people bringing their own bikes).
Bike hire. All bikes are 30-gear Focus mountain bikes, Black Forest 4.0 with hydraulic brakes. Most are hardtails, 26-ers, although we’re slowly moving towards 27.5-ers. Biking in dry conditions on hard-pack roads and loose gravel tracks, the route is not overly technical. A hardtail will do. On request, two full suspension bikes are available – Focus Super Buds, 26-ers. Bike hire costs €100 for the whole trip. Prices do not include spare parts like spare tubes, replacement derailleur hangers or others.
Drinks. We do not provide any soft or alcoholic drinks during the day or with evening meals. But there will be plenty of mint tea! Only foreigners and non-Muslim Moroccans may purchase alcohol in the country and, on request, we can buy soft drinks and alcoholic beverages for your group. Just send us your list of requirements for the week before your arrival.
Final evening dinner. So that you have the freedom to choose the way you want to celebrate the end of your Beyond Biking tour, we do not organise a final evening meal. However, we are happy to advise and make a booking for you.
Single room. For an additional cost, single room options may be available, if requested.
Travel Insurance. It is a condition of joining any of our trips that you are insured against medical and personal accident risks (to include repatriation costs, air ambulance and helicopter rescue services). You will need to advise us of your policy details and complete an insurance declaration form. Beyond Biking recommends Allianz Adventure & Survival Assistance (for EU residents), Campbell Irvine (for UK residents), Travelex (for US residents) and IMG Globe Hoppers (worldwide). These companies offer the ultimate in travel protection and emergency travel assistance, and their policies are especially designed for adventure holidays. Others. Bar bills, telephone calls, souvenirs, entrance fees to cultural or historical sites, spa treatments, personal clothing and equipment and all tips are not included.
